    The British Kandahar Ski Club is founded in Mürren in the Bernese Oberland. Its aim is to promote alpine skiing, especially racing. The club's activities lay the groundwork for hosting the first Alpine Ski World Championships in 1931 in Mürren.

    Members of the Kandahar Ski Club commission shoemaker and ski instructor Fritz von Allmen to develop innovative ski boots. The result so impresses them that they admit von Allmen into the club and encourage him to market the boots under the Kandahar brand name.

    With the development of the revolutionary après-ski boot Alpina, Fritz von Allmen recognized the needs of winter sports enthusiasts.     The Kandahar brand quickly gains an international reputation and enters the upscale winter resorts. Loyal customers include star conductor Herbert von Karajan as well as Charlie Chaplin. Kandahar shoes are comfortable and high-quality. They stand for exclusivity and understated elegance.

    In 1977 Fritz von Allmen passes the family business to his son Dieter. He expands the product range and successfully leads the brand into the future. In 2017 his son Manuel takes over company leadership. He had previously worked with his father for 12 years.

    The von Allmen family secures the future of the traditional brand and shoe production in Switzerland by transferring Kandahar to the entrepreneurial Müller family. In Sennwald in the St. Gallen Rhine Valley, Kandahar shoes continue to be handcrafted piece by piece. Manuel von Allmen will continue to support Kandahar in an advisory role.
